(She/her) 2024 | MSc Social Research Methods, UCL, with a professional background in HR and DEI.
Hello, my name is Stevie. My ambition is to contribute to social research that provides a voice to stigmatised and marginalised communities, exploring new ways to acquire and democratise knowledge.
I am fortunate to have worked across many industries, including Technology, Academic Publishing, Healthcare, Automotive and Education. This experience – across private, public and non-profit sectors – has not only enhanced my own commercial awareness but enabled me to learn about the different ways people experience work. This includes an understanding of the relationship between power and social inclusion, and the barriers faced by disabled and other minority groups in gaining equitable work. My professional career has been dedicated to advocating for equal opportunities, leading strategies, projects and initiatives that seek to create positive change.
I’m continually learning, whether it’s about how I can support others, or related to my own professional development. I’m Level 7 CIPD qualified, an ICF Executive and Professional Coach and have completed APM Project Management training. I’m now focused on developing my skills in Social Research, so I can transition to a career where I can continue my work in disability advocacy. My current research interests focus on supporting social outcomes for people with epilepsy. I’m excited to be part of the DLN, both for the opportunity to collaborate for Disability Rights advocacy and to be part of a supportive, growing community committed to making a difference.
