Parmeet Singh

(He/him) 2026

I am Parmeet Singh, a Deaf advocate, community leader, and founder of Deaf Bookwave, an inclusive book club that brings Deaf people together through reading, discussions, and community events using Indian Sign Language (ISL).

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English Literature and am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW). My main interests are Deaf advocacy, mental health, disability rights, accessibility, and inclusive education.

Through Deaf Bookwave, I create spaces where Deaf people can connect, share experiences, and build a sense of belonging. I also advocate for better accessibility in education and public spaces, especially sign language interpretation and equal communication opportunities. As an ISL trainer, I help build communication between Deaf and hearing communities.

My work is shaped by my lived experience as a Deaf person in India. I believe that Deaf people face many barriers because of inaccessible systems, not because of their deafness. My goal is to improve mental health support for the Deaf community and create more opportunities for Deaf people to lead, participate, and have their voices heard.
