(She/her) 2026
I am a Research Software Engineer at the University of Birmingham, specialising in research, technology and inclusion. With a PhD in Computational Chemistry and a background spanning both scientific research and software development, I help researchers translate complex ideas into sustainable, accessible and reusable digital tools. My work includes developing data infrastructure and software platforms across areas such as microscopy, high-altitude physiology and high-performance computing.
Alongside my technical role, I am Co-Lead for Digital Accessibility within Advanced Research Computing. I’m passionate about moving accessibility beyond a tick-box exercise and making it something that genuinely improves how we design software, conduct research and support people.
As a physically disabled researcher and professional, my approach to leadership is informed by lived experience of inaccessible systems and the barriers disabled people continue to face in education and employment. Those experiences have given me a strong sense of purpose and a practical understanding of why inclusion matters. I care about creating environments where disabled people can thrive, contribute and lead, and where their voices help shape the systems that are meant to support them. By combining technical expertise, research experience and lived experience, I work to create more accessible research environments, challenge exclusion, and ensure disabled people are actively involved in designing the services and systems that affect their lives.
