Elia Chitwa

(They/them) 2025

I am currently studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law having studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Once I have finished my course, I will move on to study for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam before starting as a trainee solicitor at a law firm in London. After completing my undergraduate degree, I was the Disabled Students’ Sabbatical Officer at my students’ union.

In addition to my studies, I do and have done a lot of work with different charities. I am currently a volunteer for GROW Mentoring – a charity that pairs aspiring lawyers with industry professionals for mentoring – and a Student Assessor for the Student Minds University Mental Health Charter.

I am passionate about the rights of disabled people – especially for those of us who have other intersecting identities in addition to being disabled. I hope that as a DLN member, I can help advocate further for disabled people, as well as learn from the rest of the community.
